Unconfirmed: NiGHTS 2 Coming to the Wii A lot of chatter about a NiGHTS sequel heading to the Wii. Sega's word is 'mum.' 03/28/2007 Eleven days ago, an image teasing Official Nintendo Magazine UK's "world exclusive" in next month's issue hit the Internet. The image might have been ignored, if not for the fact that a poster on Neo GAF "connected the dots" to reveal a image that looked remarkably close to the cover art for the beloved Sega Saturn title claiming that "This is not an April Fool. The whole point of the Next Month image is to be a teaser and to get people talking and guessing. It's just A BIT OF FUN." And, that makes plenty of sense. The tease is all about generating buzz not only about what the announcement might be, but generating and publicity for the publication (ONM UK, you've succeeded). However, at this point many fans took this to believe that NiGHTS was "CONFIRMED" on the Wii, which is not the case. At least, not officially. Less than twenty-four hours went by before another publication was clamoring that they could confirm this news. SPOnG, said that after speaking to "representatives close to the project" that a brand new NiGHTS game would be heading to the Wii. Their anonymous source stated that "It's a full game too, not a rehash of old NiGHTS for Virtual Console as some have said it might be lately. It's a whole new game." A few days went by without any new "CONFIRMED" or "DEBUNKED" posts appearing on the popular watering wholes of the Internet, but then CVG revived the story by tracking down Yuji Naka down to see if he would be interested in working on any of his old creations. Naka stated, in so many words, that he had no plans at present to do so. And all that poppycock brings us today. Game Reactor, a Swedish game magazine, posted the cover of their upcoming issue... featuring a prominent "World Exclusive" of a NiGHTS sequel. However, their initial cover was pulled for a bit, eventually replaced with different cover featuring a more translucent NiGHTS. So, now that we've digested and examined all the information, do we still know officially, one way or the other, about the fate of this rumored NiGHTS sequel? No, we don't. April is a tricky month to take anything at face value because of April's Fools. While this news would certainly please plenty of gamers, it is plausible that a the original image where this all stemmed from as a misinterpretation and Game Reactor is pulling our leg big time. At this time, SEGA hasn't made an official announcement (nor have they responded to a request to confirm or deny the game's existence). Other WDS GUIDES: BATTLEFIELD
